Job summary

Google is seeking a Technical Operations Manager for Third-Party Data Centers in Austin, TX. You will lead operations across electrical, cooling, and IT infrastructure, collaborating with engineering teams, hardware operations, network infrastructure, and third-party data center vendors to ensure operability and reliability.

The role emphasizes driving cost efficiency, maintaining safety and environmental standards, and guiding site-level programs.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 9 years of experience in electrical, mechanical/HVAC, or controls/automation in an industrial or commercial environment.
• 5 years of experience in program or project management in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, chip fabrication), design-build, or real estate development environments.

Responsibilities

• Drive efforts to test, validate, improve, and certify new processes and procedures for critical complex equipment operation for data center domain of expertise.
• Lead efforts to perform compliance activities for a data center and analyze compliance results for data centers globally. Ensure regional and global teams are complying with project/schedule guidelines and Google design standards.
• Drive efforts to monitor data center systems operations, control site activities to minimize risk, and to ensure effective response to any excursions.
• Drive efforts to ensure sites are following facility, maintenance, and standard programs globally while exhibiting strength in improvement to said policies and programs.
• Lead the development of strategies to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact at a site, along with driving site-level development of programs and initiatives.
