Job summary

Google is seeking a Data Center Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical system design for data centers and collaborate across teams to optimize cooling and infrastructure. You will drive design solutions that meet safety, reliability, and efficiency goals in a dynamic, mission-critical environment.

The role involves coordinating with the Engineer of Record (EOR), developing Basis of Design details, and guiding site-level implementation and documentation for multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in mission critical facility design and mechanical infrastructure.
• 3 years in HVAC, cooling systems, and water system engineering.
• 3 years in data center operations and working with mechanical contractors.
• 3 years in electro/mechanical assembly and testing with documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to data center services and operations teams, defining mechanical system design requirements for multiple data center projects from inception to completion.
• Develop, implement, and manage the mechanical designs at the site level, starting from the basis of design through to the issuance of construction documents for new builds, infrastructure upgrades, and renovations.
• Collaborate effectively with the Engineer of Record (EOR) to respond to site-specific engineering RFIs and ensure alignment between Google's requirements and the overall design.
• Work closely with the core engineering team to provide site-specific requirements during the development of the Basis of Design (BOD) and coordinate system-level schematics with the EOR.
• Own and manage site-level mechanical/cooling system issues during project execution, and maintain comprehensive documentation of all data center-related mechanical and cooling system design requirements.
