Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Center Lead to support a secure government technology environment in San Diego, CA. This is a hands-on, onsite contract position through March 2027, supporting major infrastructure consolidation and modernization efforts with the possibility to extend.

The ideal candidate will serve as the primary onsite resource for the Data Center Manager, coordinating daily priorities and leading installation activities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data center, network infrastructure, or lab environments.
• Hands-on rack and stack, cabling, hardware installations, and equipment moves.
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, servers, or other enterprise infrastructure technologies.
• IAT Level II Certification (Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, etc.).
• Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate priorities and communicate project status as the primary onsite contact.
• Perform rack and stack activities for network, server, and lab equipment.
• Install, move, cable, label, and connect infrastructure components.
• Decommission and remove obsolete equipment to support data center consolidation and modernization.
• Partner with engineers to ensure proper installation and readiness for configuration.
• Support ongoing data center operations, equipment inventory, and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware, connectivity, and physical layer issues in the lab.
• Maintain documentation and provide updates on progress and activities.
