Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Data Center Server Installation Technician in Sterling, VA to physically install servers in a data center. You will unbox, transport, rack, and connect servers following a step-by-step procedure; training is provided, so no prior data center experience is required.

Expected schedule is Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm with a pay rate of $20–$24 per hour. This is an on-site role requiring lifting and teamwork to complete rack installations efficiently.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Verify shipments against packing lists and check for missing items.
• Unbox servers and parts, inspect for damage, and report issues to the installation team lead or point of contact.
• Dispose of boxes and foam per data center facility guidance.
• Transport servers from the loading dock to the data hall using pallet jacks, working with a partner.
• Install and secure mounting rails in racks, including tightening the retaining screw at the designated RU position.
• Confirm rails are level, stable, and secure.
• Use a Server Lift to raise servers into position, slide them into rails, lock them in place, and confirm they are level.
• Label, connect, and dress power cables (server to PDU) with clean routing that doesn’t block airflow.
• Perform final checks on connections, rack alignment, and physical setup.
• Record discrepancies and complete an installation QA checklist.

About the Role

We’re hiring hands-on, rack & stack technicians to physically install servers in a data center. You’ll unbox, transport, rack, and connect servers following a step-by-step procedure. We train you on the equipment, including Server Lift operation, so no prior data center experience is needed.

Desired Skills (not required)

• Familiarity with server racks, PDUs, or cable management
• Prior warehouse, logistics, or pallet jack experience
• Server Lift or forklift training

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted
• Ability to team-lift up to 100 lbs with a partner
• Ability to use pallet jacks and a Server Lift for heavier equipment (training provided)
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
• Must wear required PPE: protective gloves, safety vest, and toe-protection safety shoes, plus a safety helmet when site rules require it
