Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to design and optimize control systems for diverse facilities. You will develop P&IDs, size valves, specify instrumentation, and document design data while ensuring code compliance.

Qualifications

We're looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on projects including state of the art industrial and commercial facilities making meaningful contributions from day one.

You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities amongst project team members and the discipline lead.

As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, you’ll help design and optimize control systems for a variety of processes, working closely with architects, engineers, and designers to deliver complete, world-class solutions for new facilities. Your responsibilities will include developing P&IDs, sizing valves, specifying instrumentation, and documenting and modeling design information while ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards.

Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will produce control system designs for a variety of processes, and develop options and optimizations for all aspects of process control, instrumentation, and automation systems. Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or other related engineering or technical field
  • At least 2 Years of experience working with Instrumentation and Control Systems
  • Experience in industrial or commercial control systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS), SCADA systems, or Distributed Control Systems (DCS)


Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Experience with Data Center control systems design, commissioning, and infrastructure components
  • Working knowledge of DDC, PLC, DCS, or other control platforms preferred
  • Working knowledge of common instrument types and applications
  • Experience preparing technical specifications, point lists, and design drawings
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to learn quickly and continuously advance technical proficiency
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Passion for critical facilities, infrastructure systems, and construction

The base salary range for this position is $69,500.00 to $95,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
