Description du poste

Nesco Data Center & Infrastructure is seeking a Data Center Facility Manager in the Greater Dallas/Allen area.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Facility Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and overall performance of a mission‑critical, multi‑tenant colocation data center facility in Dallas, Texas.

This individual will be responsible for managing a team of Mission‑Critical Engineers and facility technicians while ensuring the reliability, safety, efficiency, and operational integrity of the facility and its supporting infrastructure. The facility houses multiple colocation customers, ranging from individual rack deployments to customers occupying multiple cabinets, suites, and dedicated cages. The successful candidate must understand the importance of maintaining exceptional operational standards while supporting the unique requirements and expectations of multiple tenants.

A key component of this position will be developing and implementing a cross‑training program for the facility engineering team, designed to strengthen employees' mechanical and electrical competencies. The goal is to create a more versatile, knowledgeable, and effective engineering workforce capable of supporting a broader range of critical facility systems and responsibilities.

The Facility Manager will report directly to the Regional Director of Data Center Operations and serve as the primary operational leader for the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Operations & Infrastructure Management
  • Oversee all day‑to‑day operations of the data center facility, ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and monitor critical infrastructure, including:
    • Electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, and backup power.
    • Mechanical and HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, and associated cooling infrastructure.
    • Building management systems (Client) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS).
    • Fire suppression, life safety, and environmental monitoring systems.
  • Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are consistently executed.
  • Oversee scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, infrastructure upgrades, and equipment replacements.
  • Maintain operational readiness and ensure adherence to established facility procedures and service‑level expectations.
  • Participate in incident management, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Team Leadership & Cross‑Training Development
  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of Mission‑Critical Engineers and facility technicians.
  • Establish a collaborative engineering environment focused on accountability, technical development, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement a formal mechanical and electrical cross‑training program for facility personnel.
  • Encourage engineers with primarily mechanical backgrounds to develop electrical competencies and vice versa.
  • Establish training objectives, competency benchmarks, and development plans for individual team members.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and create opportunities for employees to expand their technical capabilities.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, shadowing, hands‑on training, and collaborative troubleshooting between engineering disciplines.
  • Improve staffing flexibility and operational coverage by developing a team capable of supporting multiple disciplines.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, team meetings, scheduling, and employee development discussions.
  • Multi‑Tenant Colocation Customer Management
  • Oversee facility operations supporting multiple colocation tenants, ranging from single‑rack customers to customers occupying multiple cages and dedicated data center spaces.
  • Ensure the facility team delivers consistent, professional, and responsive operational support to all tenants.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, facility access, vendor visits, and operational work that may impact tenant environments.
  • Maintain awareness of tenant‑specific requirements, service agreements, and operational expectations.
  • Support customer escalations and coordinate with internal departments to resolve facility‑related concerns.
  • Ensure proper communication surrounding planned maintenance, unplanned outages, facility incidents, and other operational events.
  • Maintain a customer‑first mindset while protecting the integrity and security of the facility.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Manage third‑party vendors, service providers, and contractors responsible for facility maintenance and ancillary services.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and performance, including:
    • HVAC and mechanical maintenance contractors.
    • Electrical contractors and generator/UPS service providers.
    • Fire suppression and life safety vendors.
    • Landscaping and lawn care services.
    • Janitorial and cleaning contractors.
    • Security, pest control, waste management, and other ancillary facility providers.
  • Coordinate vendor scheduling, site access, work permits, and maintenance activities.
  • Review vendor performance, ensure contractual obligations are met, and maintain appropriate service standards.
  • Monitor vendor expenses and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
  • Safety, Compliance & Operational Standards
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, applicable building codes, and relevant safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate facility documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), emergency operating procedures (EOPs), and maintenance procedures (MOPs).
  • Oversee change management processes and ensure appropriate approvals and risk assessments are completed before critical work.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections, safety reviews, and operational audits.
  • Ensure employees and contractors follow established safety protocols and critical facility procedures.
  • Support customer audits, compliance assessments, and internal operational reviews.
  • Reporting & Regional Operations Support
  • Report directly to the Regional Director of Data Center Operations.
  • Provide regular reporting on facility performance, staffing, maintenance activities, operational incidents, and infrastructure conditions.

  • Strong working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical infrastructure supporting mission‑critical environments.
  • Experience with UPS systems, generators, electrical distribution, HVAC, cooling systems, and building management systems.
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs, vendors, contractors, and facility service providers.
  • Previous experience in a colocation or multi‑tenant data center environment strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of data center operational procedures, maintenance protocols, and change management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and customer‑facing skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of operational discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing technical training, mentorship, or cross‑training programs.
  • Experience developing engineering teams with both mechanical and electrical competencies.
  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute standards, Tier‑rated facilities, and mission‑critical operational best practices.
  • Experience with Client, EPMS, CMMS, and other facility monitoring or maintenance management platforms.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and applicable electrical and mechanical safety requirements.
  • Relevant technical certifications, trade licenses, or facilities management credentials are beneficial.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on, operationally focused leader who understands that successful data center management requires more than simply maintaining infrastructure. They must be capable of building a strong engineering team, developing employee skill sets, improving operational efficiencies, and maintaining an exceptional level of service for multiple colocation customers.

We are particularly interested in someone who has the leadership ability to introduce a structured mechanical and electrical cross‑training initiative, creating a more well‑rounded engineering workforce that can better support the facility's operational requirements.

This individual should be equally comfortable managing critical infrastructure, developing employees, coordinating outside vendors, addressing tenant concerns, and communicating operational performance to regional leadership.
