Job summary

IMC is seeking a dedicated Data Center Engineer for our Somerset, NJ area, responsible for hands-on management of physical servers, network gear, and IT infrastructure across multiple colocation sites. You will install, configure, and maintain equipment, optimize rack layouts, and ensure accurate documentation.

Core hours are Mon–Fri, with occasional travel to other NJ data centers. The role requires 5+ years in data center engineering, strong server/network/storage knowledge, Linux basics, and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on data center engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of server hardware, network devices, and storage systems.
• Familiar with fiber optic testing and cleaning.
• Basic Linux OS knowledge and networking protocols.
• Experience with racking, cabling, and data center facilities management tools.
• Basic Bash and Python scripting in Linux environment is a plus.
• Strong time management and ability to work under pressure.
• Team player who can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends; valid driver's license for travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lifecycle of physical servers, network devices, and IT infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and upkeep server and network components in data centers.
• Plan and implement rack layouts, cabling, and patching to optimize operations.
• Diagnose hardware issues and coordinate repairs or RMAs with vendors.
• Handle shipments and maintain hardware inventory and stock levels.
• Document physical infrastructure, cabling layouts, and rack configurations.
• Maintain relationships with hardware vendors, colocation partners, and remote hands teams.
• Maintain office IT infrastructure and network systems.
