Qualifications

  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced support for electrical and mechanical systems in a data center.
  • Perform installation, preventive maintenance, repair, testing, and calibration.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot UPS, generators, cooling systems, and building controls.
  • Lead troubleshooting for complex system issues.

Data Center Critical Infrastructure Systems Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC (Fully Onsite) Schedule: Overnight Shift | Sunday-Thursday | 11:00 PM-8:00 AM Employment Type: Long-Term Contract Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a Data Center Critical Infrastructure Systems Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of mission‑critical data center infrastructure. This role will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of electrical and mechanical systems within a large‑scale data center environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center facilities, power distribution, cooling systems, and preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced support for electrical and mechanical systems within a data center environment.
  • Perform installation, preventive maintenance, repair, testing, and calibration of critical infrastructure equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot UPS systems, generators, electrical distribution systems, chillers, CRAH units, HVAC systems, pumping systems, and building controls.
  • Monitor and maintain cooling plants, environmental controls, and power systems to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Inspect and test mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pumps, valves, compressors, controls, wiring, and related infrastructure.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to support maintenance and operational activities.
  • Ensure all systems operate in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Support inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of data monitoring and control systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts involving complex electrical and mechanical system issues.
  • Participate in 24x7 operational support of the data center environment.
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, maintenance projects, and operational improvements.
  • Support initiatives focused on maintaining 100% uptime for critical systems.
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience supporting data center facilities or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical codes, standards, and maintenance practices.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Chillers
    • HVAC and cooling plants
    • CRAH units
    • UPS systems
    • Generators
    • Building automation and control systems
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • Pumping systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specification documents.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high‑pressure, mission‑critical environments.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical licenses or certifications in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Predictive maintenance certifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word.
  • Previous experience working within a large enterprise data center environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders, kneel, stoop, bend, and work in confined areas.
  • Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions typical of facilities and maintenance operations.
