Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking Data Center Controls Technicians for hands-on work in Virginia and North Carolina. These roles focus on building automation, electrical monitoring, and mechanical systems in critical facilities.

You'll work with BMS/BAS, EPMS, and multiple protocols across data center environments, ensuring safe, powered, and monitored operations. Strong emphasis on troubleshooting, commissioning, and hands-on sensor/controller work in onsite, high-availability settings.

Qualifications

• Experience with building automation and HTS/EPMS platforms.
• Familiarity with commissioning and sensor calibration.
• Ability to troubleshoot controls and communications in data-center environments.

Responsibilities

• Support BMS/BAS systems for chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and sensors.
• Monitor EPMS environments for generators, UPS, switchgear, VFDs, and PDUs.
• Handle controllers, HMIs, IPCs, sensors, relays, and field devices.
• Perform point-to-point checkout and commissioning activities.
• Load software and configurations onto controllers and HMIs.
• Install, replace, calibrate, and validate sensors.
• Troubleshoot controls and communication issues across networks.
• Work with BACnet, Modbus, MQTT protocols and related standards.
• Collaborate with commissioning teams, contractors, and change control.

Hiring: Data Center Controls Technicians - BMS / EPMS

Virginia: Fredericksburg / Stafford / Louisa

Fully Onsite | 12-Month Contract | Multiple Openings

We're supporting AWS with multiple openings for hands-on Data Center Controls Technicians across critical data center environments in Virginia and North Carolina.

This role sits right at the intersection of building automation, electrical monitoring, mechanical systems, and controls.

You'll be working directly with the systems that keep data centers powered, cooled, monitored, and operating safely.

What you'll work on

• BMS / BAS systems supporting chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAHs, economizers, temperature sensors, and humidity sensors
• EPMS environments monitoring generators, UPS systems, switchgear, PDUs, VFDs, ATS and STS equipment
• Controllers, HMIs, IPCs, sensors, relays, and field devices
• Point-to-point checkout and commissioning
• Loading software and configurations onto controllers and HMIs
• Sensor installation, replacement, calibration, and validation
• Troubleshooting controls and communication issues
• BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and related protocols
• Low-voltage copper and fiber environments
• Supporting commissioning, testing, contractors, ticketing, MOPs, and change management

You do not need previous hyperscale data center experience.

The strongest candidates understand the interaction between mechanical systems, electrical systems, controls, and basic networking and are comfortable troubleshooting equipment hands-on in a critical environment.

Must be able to work fully onsite in the assigned Virginia or North Carolina market and float between nearby AWS sites when required.
