Job summary

Meta seeks a Data Center Connectivity Engineer to design structured cabling and infrastructure for new builds, retrofits, and technology changes across global data centers.

You will lead design, oversee outsourced work, and ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables aligned with project milestones. Strong background in physical infrastructure, fiber optics, BIM tools, and cross‑functional collaboration is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years in engineering with a focus on achieving results.
  • Expertise in physical infrastructure design, including structured and fiber‑optic cabling.
  • Leadership experience in managing large projects and diverse stakeholder engagement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fiber optic components and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee global project execution and program development for special initiatives.
  • Promote and implement best practices in design to streamline large‑scale deployments.
  • Incorporate feedback and lessons learned to refine future designs.
  • Interface fluently with network transport and architecture requirements.
  • Prepare complete and accurate construction documents and diagrams for OSP, ISP, and structured cabling elements.
  • Assist in the RFP process and coordinate bid documentation for design and construction contracts.
  • Accelerate deployment of project deliverables under aggressive timelines.
  • Validate project deliverables at each design milestone.
  • Engage in construction administration for design elements needing technical input.
  • Partner with teams to implement approved changes across projects.
  • Maintain documentation reflecting project completion, updating as necessary.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure designs meet capacity and network needs.
  • Drive scalable solutions for structured cabling in Meta's data center spaces.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for projects you lead.
  • Provide regular updates on project status focusing on delivery, cost, and quality metrics.
  • Participate in team meetings for alignment and consistency in project execution.
  • Proactively identify and address risks and urgent issues.
  • Travel as needed (10‑20%) to review projects and coordinate with onsite teams.

Summary: Join Meta's DEC Design Engineering team as a Data Center Connectivity Engineer. Our Data Centers are the backbone of our rapidly expanding infrastructure, and you will play a key role in crafting structured cabling and infrastructure designs essential for our installations covering new builds, retrofits, and innovative technology modifications. This role requires technical aptitude in design and strong oversight of outsourced work. As a Data Center Connectivity Engineer, you will ensure timely delivery of designs that meet or surpass project expectations while fostering best practices and establishing standards aligned with large-scale deployments. You will engage fully throughout the design lifecycle, continuously integrating lessons learned from field deployments into future designs. Successful collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is critical to meet our structured cabling design requirements effectively.

  • Experience in tooling and automation development (scripting, database integration, APIs).
  • Knowledge of Ethernet and optical transport network technologies.
  • Experience with fiber topology for resiliency and latency improvement.
  • Experience leading and mentoring BIM teams for project quality.
  • Familiarity with BIM tools like Revit, AutoCAD, and script development.
  • Knowledge in establishing BIM standards for large projects.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering and external partners.
  • Management experience in design execution and quality control.
  • Understanding of current BIM trends for innovative solutions.
Compensation

$150,000/year to $209,000/year, bonus, equity benefits.
