Job summary

Client in Houston, TX is hiring an experienced Data Architect (Databricks) for a hybrid role. The position is available as contract or full-time and requires senior-level data engineering and architecture expertise.

The ideal candidate will lead cloud-based data architecture initiatives, design Lakehouse solutions on Azure Databricks, govern data assets, and optimize SQL and Spark queries across large data platforms.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Architecture.
• 5+ years of hands-on Databricks; expert-level preferred.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure and cloud-based data architecture solutions.
• Strong proficiency in PySpark, Apache Spark, Spark SQL, and Python.
• Extensive experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong experience with Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2).
• Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience with Databricks Jobs, Workflows, clusters, notebooks, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and enterprise data architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog, data governance, security, and access controls.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, and DevOps practices.
• Experience designing and implementing Azure Databricks Lakehouse architectures.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data lineage, metadata management, and security.
• Experience providing technical leadership and architectural guidance to Data Engineering teams.
