Data Architect (Snowflake) | Hybrid – Columbus, OH | 12-Month Contract-to-Hire
We’re looking for a hands‑on Data Architect to serve as the senior technical authority for a large, mission‑driven membership organization’s data platform. You’ll design how membership, marketing, and sales data is modeled, integrated, governed, and delivered on a modern cloud platform built on Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Apache Iceberg, and AWS.
This is a delivery‑focused role, not a slideware one. You’ll turn a defined data strategy into working architecture: governed data products the business can use on its own, an AI‑ready foundation, and a clean data path through a major CRM migration to Salesforce.
Location: Hybrid, on‑site in Columbus, OH every Tuesday and Wednesday. Candidates must be local.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, now or in the future.
What You’ll Do
- Own the conceptual, logical, and physical data models for members, customers, organizations, subscriptions, orders, events, learning, and engagement
- Design a unified Member/Customer 360 with entity resolution and deduplication across multiple source systems
- Own the medallion architecture: Bronze on S3, Silver as Apache Iceberg, and Gold in native Snowflake
- Design Snowflake environments, RBAC, and access patterns, and own performance and cost (warehouse sizing, clustering, query tuning)
- Lead a 60‑day Snowflake proof‑of‑value on the Salesforce source and turn the results into reusable patterns
- Architect orchestration on Apache Airflow and the dbt transformation layer, with testing, lineage, and CI/CD through Git
- Act as data lead for a membership platform migration to Salesforce, covering mapping, cleansing, reconciliation, and cutover
- Help stand up a data governance program covering ownership, definitions, quality rules, and certified data products
- Design data products for engagement scoring, churn and retention, and leadership KPIs
- Advise business and executive stakeholders, produce architecture decision records and solution designs, and guide onshore and offshore engineers
Required
- 8+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or solutions architecture, including 3+ years as architect of record for a modern cloud data platform
- Deep production experience with Snowflake: modeling, RBAC, performance tuning, and cost management
- Production experience with dbt and Apache Airflow
- Experience with AWS (S3, Glue, IAM, ECS Fargate, RDS PostgreSQL), ideally including Iceberg‑based lakehouse design
- Strong data modeling skills (dimensional, normalized, entity‑centric) and experience building a Customer or Member 360
- Experience with membership, association, or subscription data, and with marketing and sales application data (CRM, marketing automation, CDP, e‑commerce)
- Hands‑on CRM or membership‑system migration experience
- Strong SQL and Python, with a Git‑based workflow
- Ability to explain architecture and trade‑offs clearly to non‑technical executives
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
- SnowPro Advanced (Architect or Data Engineer) or dbt Analytics Engineering certification
- netFORUM, Salesforce Data Cloud, Eloqua, HubSpot, BlueConic, or Adobe Commerce data experience
- Data governance tooling such as Snowflake Horizon or Atlan
- Snowflake Cortex, semantic/metric layers, or NL‑to‑SQL tooling
- Knowledge‑layer technologies such as graph/RDF, OWL/SKOS ontologies, or Graph RAG
Interview Process: Two rounds. The first is virtual, and the second is on‑site in Columbus.
