Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data and Generative AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. The candidate will have a strong background in software development, data engineering, Generative AI, and cloud technologies. Design, develop and deliver Generative/Agentic AI solutions that accelerate End-to-End Data Pipeline Engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for the Data Technology Team.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Implement data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes using tools equivalent to Databricks.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through meticulous testing and validation, applying Intelligent Automation principles for development, testing and release.
- Monitor system performance and solve issues to ensure optimal operation in line with expected SLAs.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, working with and guiding third party vendors.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply this to the ecosystem.
- Own and lead proof of concepts and minimal viable products hands‑on.
- Present results, key insights and explain complex analysis in a simple manner to senior leaders across different functions to help drive data‑driven decision making and adoption. Leverage data visualization/dashboarding tools for interactive presentations.
- Work on projects of varying length and complexity in an agile manner with work prioritization and deadlines.
- Automate data pipelines and orchestrate workflows.
- Leverage and advance robust data architecture and cloud‑based technology stack to support production‑level work.
- Partner with multi‑functional teams.
- Keep up to date to apply latest technology trends in the areas of data technology and artificial intelligence, including Generative AI.
- Adhere to and leverage procedures and standards as applicable.
- Ensure that all GEN AI output adheres to rules and guidelines defined by legal, compliance and IT.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in an industry setting.
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, STEM, or a quantitative field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Ability to work and collaborate with a distributed team, innovate, and commit to common goals and achievements.
- Familiarity with large language models and generative AI concepts (LLMs, tokenization, prompt‑response behavior).
- Practical experience calling LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and integrating responses into applications.
- Basic understanding of agentic architectures: planners, action executors, tool use, memory components, and feedback loops.
- Hands‑on experience building simple agent workflows or prototypes using an agent framework (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack) or equivalent libraries.
- Competence in prompt engineering for multi‑step tasks and chaining prompts to implement simple planning/execution logic.
- Awareness of common failure modes for agents (hallucination, looped behavior, unsafe actions) and strategies to mitigate them (validation checks, guardrails).
- Knowledge of Big Data, Data Pipelining, Machine Learning, intermediate level of Software Development and Automation skills.
- Ability to connect and partner with various team members to identify their needs and drive adoption of the solutions.
- Experience in handling compliance consistency, risk management and stakeholder commitments in large organizations.
- Shown experience in software development with a focus on data engineering and cloud technologies.
- Strong Python skills, with experience and aim to learn LLMs, RAG, Agentic Frameworks, Generative AI Patterns.
- Familiarity with Databricks & Lakehouse Architecture — Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and Delta Live Tables (DLT); Databricks Asset Bundles & Cluster Management.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, AWS and Azure Cloud.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Other
The position will be located in Raritan, NJ and may require up to 10% travel.
Compensation
The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $79,000 - $127,650.
