About the Company
Edison Smart is partnered with a fast-growing IoT technology company whose devices bring connectivity and intelligence to everyday products moving through the supply chain. Their platform is used by some of the world's largest retail and consumer organizations, and the Dallas team is growing quickly to support major customer deployments.
About the Role
We're looking for a Data Solutions Team Lead to head up a growing data delivery function in the Dallas area, sitting within a cross-functional Scrum team and working directly with major enterprise customers on live, real-world IoT deployments.
This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of data, operations, and customer delivery, with 1–2 direct reports and significant client-facing exposure, including presenting data and insights directly to customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team (1–2 direct reports) responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and improving the quality and performance of data generated across customer deployments
- Act as a senior, client-facing point of contact — presenting findings, performance data, and insights directly to enterprise customers
- Monitor real-time data streams and system performance across customer environments
- Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and anomalies in performance and data quality
- Lead root cause investigations into issues such as data collection gaps, device/tag placement, configuration errors, and integration problems
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both customers and internal stakeholders
- Oversee the build of dashboards and visualizations to communicate system performance and business impact
- Partner with Field Deployment Engineering, Product, and Engineering teams (including the international team) to close gaps and improve solutions
- Own escalation of product and data issues through to resolution
- Guide customers and field teams on best practices to improve deployment performance and data quality
- Apply project/program management experience to drive delivery timelines and outcomes across concurrent customer engagements
Requirements
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Math, Computer Science, Data Science/Engineering, or an equivalent analytical discipline
- 3–5+ years of experience in data analysis in technical, customer-facing roles (analyst background required — this is not an engineering role)
- Prior people management and/or project management experience
- Experience architecting big data, data warehousing, operational analytics, and integration solutions
- Experience with Spark strongly preferred
- Experience with visualization/BI tools (Plotly, Tableau, Power BI, Grafana) including UI/dashboard design
- Solid understanding of statistical analysis and relational database structures (SQL; InfluxDB a plus)
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable presenting to enterprise clients
- Self-starter, able to execute quickly and independently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving start-up environment
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship (Green Card or US Citizenship)
