We’re seeking a Power BI / Data Analytics Developer to design and deliver reliable, scalable reporting solutions using data from multiple business systems. This role will work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translate complex business processes into data models and reporting logic, and ensure reports are accurate, maintainable, and easy to use.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business processes, and translate reporting needs into practical data and analytics solutions.
- Connect, integrate, and reconcile data from multiple systems, including databases, cloud platforms, applications, APIs, files, and enterprise data sources.
- Design and maintain semantic models, including fact and dimension tables, relationships, appropriate data grain, calculated columns, measures, and shared dimensions.
- Develop data transformations and curated datasets using Power Query, SQL, DAX, and PySpark, as appropriate.
- Build intuitive Power BI reports, dashboards, KPIs, drillthrough experiences, tooltips, filters, and other interactive reporting features.
- Develop and maintain complex DAX measures and business logic to support operational, financial, project, and portfolio reporting.
- Analyze differences between source systems and determine how data should be mapped, related, and presented when systems contain different identifiers, structures, or levels of detail.
- Perform detailed data validation and reconciliation across source systems to ensure calculations, mappings, relationships, and business rules produce accurate results.
- Troubleshoot data model issues, refresh failures, relationship ambiguity, performance problems, and unexpected report behavior.
- Publish and maintain solutions in Power BI Service and Microsoft Fabric, including semantic models, refresh processes, connections, gateways, permissions, and workspaces.
- Work with users to investigate reporting questions, identify root causes of data discrepancies, and distinguish between source-data issues and reporting/modeling issues.
- Improve existing reports and data models based on changing business requirements and stakeholder feedback while considering downstream impacts.
- Create clear technical and business documentation for data sources, transformation logic, calculations, assumptions, and reporting definitions.
- Apply sound data-modeling practices to keep reporting solutions understandable, scalable, and maintainable as requirements evolve.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL, and relational data modeling.
- Experience designing semantic models using dimensional modeling concepts, including fact tables, dimension tables, relationships, filter behavior, and multiple levels of data grain.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when working with complex or inconsistent data from multiple systems.
- Demonstrated ability to validate and reconcile data back to source systems before delivering reporting solutions.
- Ability to understand business processes and translate them into data relationships, calculations, KPIs, and reporting logic.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex reporting and data-model issues rather than simply building visuals from prepared datasets.
- Strong attention to detail and an understanding of how changes to data models, relationships, or calculations can affect existing reporting.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work directly with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Ability to explain complex data issues and reporting logic in understandable business terms.
Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse/Warehouse environments, notebooks, and curated data layers.
- Experience with Power BI Service, gateways, cloud connections, workspace management, refresh configuration, permissions, and row-level security.
- Experience working with project, portfolio, financial, scheduling, or operational data.
- Experience integrating data across systems that use different business keys, identifiers, or levels of granularity.
- Familiarity with source-to-report data lineage, data quality validation, and semantic model governance.
- Experience improving or redesigning complex Power BI semantic models as reporting requirements grow.
