Job summary

Blue Bottle Coffee is seeking a curious analytics leader to join the U.S. Finance team. You will turn cafe, digital, and product data into tools and insights that drive the business.

You’ll work with Cafe Operations, Digital & Product, and Engineering to build trusted data foundations and a clear view of guests and products. You will set the data roadmap, drive AI reporting, and lead analytics across guest interactions, with dashboards to inform sales, traffic, labor, and service speed.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in analytics, data science, or business intelligence in hospitality, retail, or food & beverage.
• Expert SQL and experience with modern data and BI tools.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude for speedier analysis and self-serve insights.
• Experience with POS, loyalty, or digital ordering data and experiment design.

Responsibilities

• Set the data and analytics roadmap with Engineering for infrastructure and a single source of truth.
• Drive AI reporting and analytics agenda for management teams.
• Lead guest analytics across app, ordering, subscriptions, and loyalty.
• Build dashboards and tools for Cafe Operations to track sales, traffic, labor, and service speed.
• Partner with Digital & Product to design and evaluate A/B tests for features and personalization.
• Analyze menu mix, pricing, and launch performance to shape product decisions.
• Support planning, forecasting, and business cases with data-driven recommendations for senior leaders.

About the job

Blue Bottle Coffee is seeking a curious, commercially minded analytics leader to join the U.S. Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will turn our cafe, digital, and product data into the tools and insights our teams use to run and grow the business. Working closely with Cafe Operations, Digital & Product, and Engineering, you will build trusted data foundations and deliver a clear view of the business, our guests, and our products.

This role is remote with a preference for candidates located in Pacific Time. Employees are required to be based within 50 miles of one of the following established Blue Bottle Coffee geographic locations:

The San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC Metro, New York City Metro, Las Vegas

You Will:

• Set the data and analytics roadmap, partnering with Engineering on infrastructure, KPI definitions, and a single source of truth.
• Drive the organization’s AI reporting and analytics agenda, using tools such as Claude to help management teams quickly analyze performance and act on insights.
• Lead guest analytics across the app, ordering, subscriptions, and loyalty, connecting digital and in-cafe behavior.
• Build dashboards and tools that help Cafe Operations track sales, traffic, labor, and speed of service.
• Partner with Digital & Product to design and evaluate A/B tests for features, offers, and personalization.
• Analyze menu mix, pricing, and launch performance to shape product decisions.
• Support planning, forecasting, and business cases with clear, data-driven recommendations for senior leaders.

You Have:

• 6+ years in analytics, data science, or business intelligence, ideally in hospitality, retail, or food and beverage
• Expert SQL and experience with modern data and BI tools and ERP/Planning systems (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Sigma or Tableau, Netsuite, Adaptive); Python or R a plus.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude to speed up analysis, automate reporting, or make insights self-serve for business teams.
• Experience with POS, loyalty, or digital ordering data, and with experiment design.
• Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of P&L drivers.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills across functions and levels.

$112,000 - $166,000 a year

This position has a salary range of $120,000 - $166,000 in California and NYC and $112,000 - $155,000 in our other market areas. This salary range is a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, which include a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
