Job summary

FirstEnergy AMRC Asset Management Support team seeks a Data Analyst II/III/IV to analyze transmission reliability data and related inputs, delivering insights that reduce risk and optimize investments.

You will apply advanced statistics, machine learning, and reporting tools (Python, R, SQL) and collaborate across Power Delivery, IT and business units to produce reliable analytics and stakeholder-ready dashboards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a data-related field with 4+ years relevant work experience.
  • Experience processing and generating insight from large structured and unstructured data.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and/or SQL.
  • Knowledge of FE systems including iTOA, OPPM, GIS, Cascade, EMS, SAP, and PI is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Query large data sets from iTOA, OPPM and other sources and interpret results with advanced statistics.
  • Apply linear regression, machine learning and other quantitative methods to forecast trends.
  • Collaborate with Power Delivery and IT to streamline data access and build custom reporting products.
  • Develop and maintain reports and analytics using Oracle BIP, Toad, RapidMiner, Python and Power BI.
  • Support data governance through validation and testing of transmission reliability data and systems.

Job description

This role is part of FirstEnergy Service Co., within the AMRC Asset Management Support team, supporting Transmission Reliability. The position uses advanced statistical modeling and predictive analytics to assess asset health, maintenance, capital investment, and weather impacts to improve transmission reliability.

Role Overview

In this Data Analyst II/III/IV role, you will analyze transmission reliability data and related inputs to generate insights that reduce reliability risk, optimize investments, and support more reliable operations. You will leverage advanced quantitative methods and collaborate with Power Delivery, IT, and business stakeholders to streamline data access and deliver customized reporting products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Query large data sets from iTOA, OPPM, and other sources, interpret results, and analyze outcomes using advanced statistical techniques.
  • Perform advanced analytics using linear regression, machine learning, and other quantitative methods to forecast future trends and outcomes that support transmission reliability improvements.
  • Collaborate across Power Delivery and IT to streamline data access and build customized products for business needs.
  • Develop and maintain reports and analytics using platforms such as Oracle BIP, Toad Database, RapidMiner, Python, and other tools such as Power Bl.
  • Support data governance by leading technical validation and testing for transmission reliability data and systems.
  • Create tools and processes that provide visibility for key stakeholders and support improvement efforts related to FE transmission reliability.
  • Work with Power Delivery and Operational Excellence to ensure effective and consistent reporting and analysis.
  • Support NERC, NATF, and other industry working groups related to transmission reliability data recording, analysis, and reporting.
  • Conduct business-specific research and ad hoc data analysis, including data acquisition, result interpretation, and findings communication.
  • Deliver accurate, high-quality work within established deadlines.
  • Provide storm support as needed, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel may be required across the FirstEnergy system at times.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in processing, manipulating, and generating insight from large data sets that include structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience implementing complex programs and projects.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, predictive modeling techniques, and data mining algorithms is highly valuable.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Knowledge of FE systems including iTOA, OPPM, GIS, Cascade, EMS, SAP, and PI is preferred.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels to aid in problem resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to present complex subject matter to all levels of management.
  • Team player with willingness to work in a team environment and ability to work cross-functionally.

Compensation

Estimated pay range: $68,425 to $139,800 per year. FirstEnergy uses a market-based approach to pay, which may vary by location. For certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, a 20% differential applies, making the range $82,110 to $167,760.
