Job summary

Kansas City National Security Campus is seeking a Data Analyst II to provide support and analysis for enterprise data projects, define processes, and ensure data quality across Data Analytics and Data Governance initiatives. The role entails data analysis, data integration, data mapping, and governance activities under the KCNSC Data Office.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree or Certification or 2 additional years of experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into requirements and support the design and implementation of analytics solutions and governance processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and maintain analytics and data governance information products and processes.
  • Perform data analysis by querying datasets and documenting master, reference, and transaction data, rules, and mappings.
  • Document internal processes and audit procedures to ensure data integrity.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or process flaws and deploy solutions to reduce manual effort.
  • Support analytical tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, and PowerBI.
  • Assist in master data development, data cataloging, and data quality processes.

Job description

Summary

The Data Analyst II will provide support and analysis for KCNSC enterprise data projects, define processes, and adhere to them. The role is responsible for performing data analysis, data integration, data mapping, and data quality for Data Analytics and Data Governance activities as determined by KCNSC Data Office management.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilize analytical and technical skills for translating and analyzing business needs into requirements and support the design and implementation of one or more complex analytics solutions (reports, dashboards, data mining) and/or governance solutions (cataloging, data quality, access management)
  • Work with project work streams, business stakeholders to design, implement and maintain best practice analytics and data governance information products and processes to support the business
  • Perform data analysis by querying data sets in databases, spreadsheets, semi-structured data, and flat file formats to identify and document master data, reference data, transaction data, business rules, data integration rules, data mapping and transformations
  • Document internal processes and audit procedures to ensure data integrity of solutions
  • Research and resolve unexpected results or internal process flaws; effectively prioritize and deploy solutions that can replace manual process
  • Support and prototype solutions in analytical tools such as Microstrategy, Tableau, PowerBI
  • Support development of master data, data cataloging and data quality processes in data management tools
  • Gather data from multiple sources and perform moderate level analysis, generating reports supportive of organizational metrics and client services
  • Support information management projects utilizing data analysis, data mining and data optimization techniques
  • Develop and follow standard operating procedures for regularly occurring processes
  • Cross train and provide back‑up coverage to other team members when needed
  • Working at the Analyst II level, duties/responsibilities should be carried out with a level of proficiency commensurate with the experience level required for the position and should require only general oversight from departmental leadership
You Must Have
  • 2 years of experience required
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree or Certification or 2 additional years of experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on‑site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business

  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
We Value
  • 1‑2 years of proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T/SQL programming, and database objects such as stored procedures, materialized views, functions etc.
  • 1‑2 years of experience on analytics tools (Microstrategy, Tableau, PowerBI, Spotfire), PeopleSoft or data management tools (cataloging, data quality, master data management)
  • Knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience with additional database and analytics programming languages is a plus (NoSQL, R, Python, Java, Scala)
  • Strong data analysis skills, experience in source data analysis to identify and document master data, reference data, transaction data, business rules, data integration rules, data mapping and transformations
  • Good understanding of data virtualization concepts and experience developing unified semantic model
  • Experience working with Data management platforms
  • Experience working with data models, data warehouse, data management and data movement
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through ambiguity and competing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and collaborative work style
  • Ability to work with and manage confidential information in a professional manner
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to lead/drive priorities
  • Experience implementing impactful Analytics
  • Experience working on large scale business process improvement with resultsAbility to translate business requirements into effective process management solutions
  • Strong MS Excel skills preferred
  • Proactive analytical and collaborative problem‑solving skills with business acumen
  • Experience modelling processes and business rules utilizing BPM tools
  • Ability to clearly document business process & system requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both senior managerial and technical teams
  • Ability to drive action, deliver results, with agile approach
  • Convey information with clarity and directness, ensuring the message is understood across diverse, global teams
