Job summary

National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is seeking a Data Analyst I for the Examinations team in Chicago, IL. You will support data extraction, cleaning, preparation, and reporting for psychometric and research analyses, maintaining large datasets and contributing to automation and documentation.

Reporting to the Principal Research Scientist, you will use SQL, R, and/or Python to analyze data, develop dashboards, and communicate findings to stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of data analysis experience, with SQL, R, or Python.
• Associate’s degree or two years of related experience.
• Experience with JSON/XML and SQL/Delta Tables.
• Ability to summarize complex technical information for varied audiences.
• Excellent organizational and multi-project management skills.
• Experience with large and complex data sets.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with data visualization and dashboards (PowerBI).
• Experience with Microsoft Office, PowerQuery Editor, and Visual Studio Code.

Responsibilities

• Extract data from unique data sources and transform results for analyses.
• Conduct independent and replication analyses to validate findings.
• Maintain data tables and reconcile data with business rules.
• Communicate data findings to internal stakeholders.
• Perform analyses and basic reports using data mining techniques under supervision.
• Maintain operational and experimental code and documentation for data analytics functions.
• Execute and debug existing analysis tools per specifications.
• Support automation of operational and research development tasks.
