Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Data Engineer to develop automations on our data platform and translate business needs into scalable data solutions. You will analyze patterns, maintain the data layers for observability, and mentor teams on best practices to improve efficiency and cloud automation.

The role emphasizes governance, security, and collaboration across teams, with a strong hands-on approach to implement durable data pipelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, business admin, systems analysis, computer science, or engineering.
  • Experience with SQL and cloud computing (GCP).
  • Experience in data load architectures for Data Lake and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Hands-on experience with PySpark, Databricks, and Airflow.

Responsibilities

  • Develop automations on the data platform ensuring durability, high performance, and governance-aligned usability.
  • Use advanced data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights for strategic decisions.
  • Maintain the data layer and its services for observability, scalability, and flexibility to meet customer demands.
  • Mentor colleagues on data engineering best practices to promote scalability and cloud automation.
  • Translate business needs into viable, reusable data solutions and promote a data-driven culture.
  • Formulate and validate hypotheses, adapting quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Work autonomously while leveraging team support.
  • Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity and usage; propose improvements as needed.
  • Demonstrate an analytical mindset with a hands-on approach.

Job description

  • Develop automations on the data platform, ensuring durability, high performance and usability, in alignment with governance and security.
  • Use advanced data analysis techniques to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights that support the company's strategic and operational decisions.
  • Maintain the data layer and its services to ensure observability, scalability and flexibility, efficiently meeting customer demands.
  • Drive engineering team efficiency by developing and implementing frameworks, methods, and standards that optimize team activities.
  • Mentor and enable colleagues on data engineering best practices to promote scalability and cloud automation, collaborating closely with all teams.
  • Translate business needs into viable, reusable data solutions, fostering a data-driven culture.
  • Formulate and validate hypotheses, adapting quickly to shifting priorities or scenarios.
  • Work autonomously while consistently leveraging team support.
  • Be responsible for the data platform, identifying and implementing requirements for improvements, optimizations and technological changes.
  • Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity and usage, proposing tactical or strategic changes as needed.
  • Analytical mindset with a hands‑on approach.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (in progress or completed) in Information Technology, Business Administration, Systems Analysis, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Experience with Cloud Computing, preferably GCP.
  • Experience in data load architectures and processes for Data Lake.
  • Experience with Airflow (Composer).
  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Knowledge of ETL and ELT processes.
  • Knowledge of PySpark.
  • Experience with Databricks.
