Job summary

System One is seeking a Data Analyst in Salt Lake City to connect business goals with data integration and reporting outcomes. You will translate stakeholder needs into clear data requirements, analyze source systems, and enhance transparency through lineage, metadata, and validation.

You will work with SQL, Python, and modern data technologies to support a modern Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Data Mesh architecture while ensuring data quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2+ years of data analysis/BI experience.
• Strong SQL skills including complex queries, joins, and data profiling.
• Proficiency in Python for analysis, automation, and data validation.
• Experience documenting source-to-target mappings, metadata, and data lineage.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT in enterprise data environments and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into data requirements for integration, reporting, and analytics.
• Profile and analyze source systems, data structures, and business rules using SQL and Python.
• Document data flows and lineage supporting data warehouse, data lake, and downstream reporting solutions.
• Define mappings, transformation rules, and metadata to improve traceability and compliance.
• Develop data validation tests, reconcile data, and ensure data quality across pipelines.
• Build automated profiling, validation, reconciliation, and reporting processes using SQL and Python.
• Work with data engineers, architects, and analysts to troubleshoot data issues and verify solutions.
• Support data modernization using tools like dbt, Databricks on GCP, and AI/GenAI.

Hybrid in Salt Lake City, UT, System One is hiring a Data Analyst to help connect business goals with data integration and reporting outcomes. In this role, you will translate stakeholder needs into clear data requirements, analyze source systems, and strengthen transparency through lineage, metadata, and validation. You will also support modernization efforts using modern data technologies.

What you’ll do

• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand business needs and convert them into actionable requirements for data integration, reporting, and analytics.
• Profile and analyze source systems, data structures, and business rules using SQL and Python to identify relationships, anomalies, quality issues, and integration needs.
• Analyze and document source-to-target data flows that support the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Mesh, ODS, and downstream reporting and analytics solutions.
• Define and maintain source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, metadata, business definitions, and data lineage to improve traceability and support regulatory compliance.
• Develop and execute data validation and testing, including data reconciliation, transformation validation, test cases, and data quality controls.
• Build and enhance automated processes using SQL, Python, and modern data technologies to improve efficiency across profiling, validation, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Collaborate with data engineers, architects, business analysts, and end users to troubleshoot data issues, conduct root cause analysis, and verify solutions meet functional and business requirements.
• Support data modernization and continuous improvement using approaches and tools such as dbt, Databricks on GCP, Data Mesh, and AI/GenAI.
• Promote data quality and documentation best practices, share knowledge with the team, and provide guidance or mentorship as appropriate.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline, plus 2+ years of experience in data analysis, data integration, business intelligence, or a related data-focused role.
• Strong, hands‑on SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, aggregations, data profiling, transformation analysis, reconciliation, and data validation.
• Working proficiency in Python for analysis, automation, data quality validation, and integration activities.
• Experience analyzing source and target models and documenting source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, metadata, data lineage, and business rules.
• Solid understanding of data quality, testing, reconciliation, and ETL/ELT within enterprise data environments, including troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
• Requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills to translate business needs into actionable data requirements.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technology teams in a complex enterprise environment.
