Description
This role is pivotal in analyzing, modeling, and forecasting financial data related to cloud services and on-premises data center workloads. The ideal candidate combines financial acumen with strong data analytics skills to support strategic decision‑making, cost optimization, and financial planning initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret IT financial data across cloud and on-premises environments, including consumption billing and chargeback models.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize cost trends, migration impacts, and workload optimization opportunities.
- Perform monthly and annual variance analysis of IT spending, identifying anomalies, cost drivers, and opportunities for savings.
- Maintain and enhance datasets from multiple internal and external data sources to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Document processes and procedures for financial reporting, data management, and analysis.
- Collaborate with technical teams and finance stakeholders to align cost models with operational requirements and business objectives.
- Support cloud migration planning by modeling server cost scenarios and forecasting capacity requirements.
- Contribute to FinOps strategy development by providing insights into cost drivers, utilization patterns, and optimization opportunities.
- Translate complex financial and technical data into clear, actionable insights for technical teams, managers, and leadership.
- Work independently and apply critical thinking to analyze complex financial data and develop actionable recommendations.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- FinOps certification or formal FinOps training.
- Experience with cloud reserved capacity and Just-In-Time (JIT) capacity planning.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture and strategic IT planning frameworks.
- Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and IT cost optimization.
- Familiarity with cloud migration financial analysis and workload optimization.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field — 4+ years of relevant experience required.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including Power Query and DAX, along with advanced Excel skills and strong data visualization practices — 6+ years required.
- Experience with data modeling and data manipulation, including maintaining datasets from multiple heterogeneous sources — 5+ years required.
- Strong familiarity with cloud cost management, IT financial management platforms, and cloud billing structures — 5+ years required.
- Understanding of server migration strategies and workload cost modeling — 5+ years required.
- Ability to translate technical and financial data into meaningful insights for technical teams and management — 5+ years required.
- Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking to analyze complex financial data and develop actionable recommendations — 4+ years required.
- Proven ability to independently update Power BI data, perform queries, and manage and analyze datasets with minimal assistance — 6+ years required.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, accurate, and actionable information to support leadership and decision-making — 4+ years required.
