The Data Analyst role at EXL Service supports data profiling and analysis, contributes to data governance using Microsoft Purview, and helps improve data quality through standardization, documentation, and collaboration with business teams. This onsite position is based in Georgia.
Role Overview
You will work on small data informatics projects that focus on analyzing datasets for completeness, accuracy, and consistency. Findings will be documented for internal review, including flagging data quality issues and supporting simple data quality reporting for stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage small data informatics projects.
- Ensure adherence to data informatics standards.
- Develop and deliver training sessions.
- Provide feedback to junior team members.
Data Profiling and Analysis
- Run basic data profiling on datasets to assess completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Document findings and flag data quality issues for the team.
- Help prepare simple data quality reports for stakeholder review.
Business Terms and Data Rules
- Collaborate with business teams to understand how data is used in day-to-day operations.
- Draft clear definitions for business terms and basic data rules based on profiling results.
- Keep the business glossary updated and organized.
Data Standardization
- Support standardization of data formats, naming conventions, and values across systems.
- Flag inconsistencies and coordinate with the team on data clean-up activities.
Data Governance with Microsoft Purview
- Learn and use Microsoft Purview to support day-to-day data governance activities.
- Register data assets and maintain entries in the data catalog.
- Follow established governance processes and document steps as you work.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of experience in data informatics or data analysis (minimum 2 years).
- Graduate with a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- Understanding of Group Insurance data domains.
- Basic understanding of data concepts, including databases, tables, and data types.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
- Exposure to SQL.
- Familiarity with Microsoft tools such as Teams and SharePoint, and Excel is helpful.
- Detail-oriented with good analytical thinking.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to ask the right questions and explain things clearly.
- Willingness to learn new tools and processes with guidance.
- Organized, reliable, and comfortable working in a team.
