We're seeking a motivated and curious Data Analyst to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or college senior who has a strong foundation in Python, database management, and a growing interest in large language models (LLMs) including GPT or Claude.
Responsibilities
- Clean, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured data using Python and SQL
- Design and query relational databases for reporting and analysis
- Assist in fine-tuning, prompting, and evaluating outputs of large language models (LLMs)
- Support development of data visualizations, dashboards, and client reports
- Collaborate with project managers, policy analysts, and technical staff on data-driven deliverables
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and consistency in datasets
- Stay current on emerging tools and best practices in AI, open data, and analytics
Requirements
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to doing high quality work
- Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing final year) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related field
- Experience with:
- Python (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib, langchain or OpenAI APIs a plus)
- SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite)
- Working with LLMs (either academically or through personal projects or internships)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and tasks in a semi-autonomous environment
- Passion for using data to solve real-world problems, especially in the public or nonprofit sectors
Preferred
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
- Familiarity with preparing presentations to executive level clients
- Familiarity with tools including Jupyter Notebooks, dbt, Power BI, Tableau, or similar
- Interest or coursework in ethics of AI, data governance, or digital equity
- Residency in or strong ties to the Maryland, DC, or Virginia area
