Job summary

Teichert, Inc. is seeking a Data & AI Engineer to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and AI-enabled data platforms. You will partner with data scientists, analysts, and AI engineers to ensure data quality and governance across Teichert's enterprise data platform.

The role emphasizes building scalable ETL/ELT processes, leveraging Azure and Databricks, and applying foundational AI/agent-building skills to real business use cases within a construction-focused data environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, data management, or a related field.
• Experience in asset-intensive industries such as construction, mining, energy, transportation, or manufacturing is preferred.
• Proficiency with cloud data platforms and services such as Azure and Databricks; experience with modern data warehousing and data architecture concepts.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; working knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Java, R) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience applying AI and building foundational AI agents (e.g., LLMs, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation) to real use cases.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data into Teichert's data platform.
• Integrates data from databases, data warehouses, APIs, and external systems; maintains data exchange APIs.
• Applies foundational AI and agent-building skills to support AI-driven business use cases.
• Serves as a visible ambassador for data and AI across the organization.
• Implements data quality checks and validations within pipelines; partners on data governance.
• Optimizes data pipelines for performance, scalability, and efficiency; tunes systems.
• Collaborates with data scientists and analysts to optimize models and data quality.
