Job summary

EchoStar is seeking a Data & AI Governance Engineer to bridge governance policy and code execution across Databricks and Snowflake ecosystems. You will embed governance within agile pods, implement automated quality gates, and drive continuous improvement in data quality and risk controls.

You will translate complex policies into actionable technical designs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help accelerate safe data product delivery in a fast-paced environment at EchoStar.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, product management, or technical consulting with data governance focus.
• Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog and/or Snowflake Horizon Catalog governance; SQL, Python, Terraform, and workflow orchestration; and shift-left governance.

Responsibilities

• Implement Data & AI Governance as an overarching layer on Databricks/Snowflake and other platforms.
• Serve as governance resource within agile pods; participate in stand-ups, sprints, and retrospectives.
• Perform rapid risk assessments and clause-based classification for new data/AI use cases.
• Translate governance requirements into concrete technical designs and rules for delivery teams.
• Monitor governance controls and automate the governance engine to accelerate delivery.
• Own automated governance monitoring and observability, including data quality checks across layers.
