Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data & AI Governance Specialist to support the US Coast Guard's Data & AI Integration Team within the Software Yard. The role focuses on data readiness, AI/ML compliance, and governance across platform-aligned Product Teams to enable secure, scalable AI capabilities.

The position is located in Kearneysville, WV and will be hybrid, requiring collaboration with multiple stakeholders to balance rapid AI innovation with federal security and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Data governance coordination within an enterprise software development or analytics environment.
• Experience managing data pipelines, profiling, and model metadata for data assets.
• Understanding of Agile, SDLC, and how data governance fits into MLOps/DevSecOps pipelines.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams including AI engineers, Data Owners, and product stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and synchronize data governance workflows and feature store cataloging for enterprise AI/ML deployment lifecycles.
• Facilitate communication between AI engineers, Data Stewards, Product Owners, and portfolio managers.
• Track data compliance milestones to meet federal AI directives and privacy baselines.
• Maintain data dictionaries, data lineage maps, model cards, and governance verification docs.
• Manage data quality and model drift remediation schedules, feeding back to product backlogs.
• Monitor data quality metrics and training data integrity for long-term mission reliability.
• Identify data security risks, data bias, or silo constraints affecting AI rollout.
