Why Castelion, Why Now

Castelion is moving incredibly fast to develop and deliver advanced defense systems at a time when execution matters more than ever. We believe focus, ownership, and excellence are decisive advantages - and we're building a world-class team to turn bold ideas into real capability. This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage, where you'll have significant ownership, collaborate with exceptional teammates, and make a direct, measurable impact on our mission and the future of the company - regardless of your function.

Dangerous Goods Logistics Driver

As a Dangerous Goods Logistics Driver, you will support the safe and compliant movement of hazardous materials, production hardware, tooling, and other mission-critical cargo between Castelion facilities, vendors, test sites, and external partners.

You will execute local and regional material movements while maintaining strict safety, security, and regulatory standards. When not actively driving, you will support Shipping & Receiving and Materials operations, including shipment preparation, packaging, loading and unloading, material movement, and other logistics activities.

This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, a high degree of ownership, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-hazard production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Safely transport hazardous materials, energetic materials, chemicals, rocket motor components, production hardware, tooling, and other mission-critical cargo between Castelion facilities, vendors, test sites, and external partners.
  • Execute local and regional transportation routes based on production and operational requirements.
  • Operate commercial vehicles and trailers in accordance with applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, equipment, and cargo.
  • Ensure shipments are properly packaged, marked, labeled, placarded, secured, and documented in accordance with applicable DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations and company requirements.
  • Review and verify shipping papers, manifests, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), emergency response information, permits, and other required transportation documentation.
  • Load and unload vehicles using appropriate material-handling equipment and approved blocking, bracing, strapping, tie-down, and cargo securement methods.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as needed.
  • Comply with applicable hours-of-service requirements, vehicle weight limits, routing restrictions, cargo securement standards, and hazardous materials transportation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, shipment records, vehicle inspection documentation, and proof of delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with Shipping & Receiving, Inventory, Engineering, Production, and other Operations teams to support time-sensitive material movements.
  • Identify packaging, documentation, placarding, cargo securement, vehicle, or safety discrepancies and resolve or elevate issues before transportation.
  • Follow applicable emergency response procedures in the event of a spill, vehicle incident, or transportation emergency.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles, trailers, and equipment in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition.
  • Support Shipping & Receiving and Materials operations when not actively performing transportation activities.
  • Complete and maintain required DOT hazardous materials, security awareness, function-specific, driver safety, and company-specific training.
  • Flex between scheduled transportation and urgent mission-driven logistics requirements as company priorities change.
Basic Qualifications
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), appropriate for the class of commercial motor vehicle assigned.
  • 5+ years of verifiable commercial driving, logistics, transportation, shipping and receiving, or material-handling experience.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and ability to meet applicable DOT and company driver qualification requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate when required for assigned commercial driving responsibilities.
  • Ability to comply with applicable DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements for safety-sensitive commercial driving positions.
  • 5+ years of experience working with hazardous materials in a shipping, receiving, transportation, or material-handling environment.
  • Working knowledge of DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations and applicable 49 CFR Parts 171–180.
  • Ability to complete and maintain required DOT hazardous materials employee training, including general awareness, function-specific, safety, security awareness, and applicable driver training.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), including driver qualification, vehicle inspection, hours-of-service, cargo securement, and hazardous materials transportation requirements.
