FedEx in North Charleston, SC, seeks a Dangerous Goods handler to ensure safe, compliant handling and proper paperwork for dangerous goods. The role requires DG training, ability to lift 50 lbs, and strong attention in a noisy operations setting.

Starting pay is $21.24/hr. Work shifts Tue-Fri 4:30pm-9:30pm and Sat 12pm-6pm, with potential for five-day weeks. E-Verify participation is part of the process. Benefits and accommodations available per FedEx policies.

Job Duties

Ensures safe and legal handling of dangerous goods including: proper separation, palletizing and aircraft/truck loading. Ensures related dangerous goods paperwork is accurate, complete, and timely, including proper distribution to all necessary parties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma/GED.

Minimum Experience

Six (6) months of related station, ramp, hub or safety experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of shipping or processing dangerous goods packages strongly preferred. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. Ability to complete all basic and re-currency training for Dangerous Goods. If required to perform the spill clean-up function. Must complete all basic and re-currency training for spill clean-up. Must be able to read and understand manuals, regulations, charts and tables, and effectively communicate verbally in a time-sensitive manner in a noisy operations environment. Current DG certification preferred. Experience with computer, i.e., mainframe, PC, internet/intranet preferred.

Job Conditions

Non-covered safety sensitive position; Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. If required to drive company vehicles or motorized conveyances as a regular part of job, must possess valid drivers license.

Additional Details: Tuesday-Friday 4:30pm-9:30pm/Saturday 12pm-6pm The desired location for this position would be North Charleston, SC. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx location five days a week.
