Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED with 5 years in natural gas construction or damage prevention.
• Must obtain and maintain Operator Qualifications (OQs) and training within six months.
• Valid driver's license required per company standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pipeline crossings by third-parties.
• Coordinate excavations with company crews and outside contractors for damage prevention.

• Review and reconcile invoices.
• Serve as primary contact with excavators, municipalities and company personnel on excavations.

• Maintain records and reports to comply with company and regulatory requirements.
• Potential stand-by duty, shift work, holidays, weekends, and emergency calls.
• May report outside regular work area as needed.
• Identify and report safety and encroachment issues to resolution.
• Handle safe operation and inspection of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Support Atmos Energy values and safety culture; complete required safety training.

Primary Duties

1. 1. Oversees pipeline crossings by third-parties.
2. 2. Works with Company crews and outside contractors to have excavations performed for the purpose of damage prevention.
3. 3. Conducts investigations of natural gas facility damages; completes damage investigations and follows through to resolution.
4. 4. Reviews and reconciles invoices.
5. 5. Responsible for contact with area excavators, municipalities, and Company personnel responsible for excavation activities.
6. 6. Assures the accuracy of Company maps and records as they relate to damage prevention.
7. 7. Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
8. 8. May be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours.
9. 9. Is subject to reporting outside regular work area.
10. 10. Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion.
11. 11. Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
12. 12. Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company values, strategies, policies and procedures and exhibits the core values of AtmoSpirit, Customer Service, Safety and the Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others.
13. 13. Must become familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live by the spirit of its intent and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment. Must complete all required safety training.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Experience Level

A general educational knowledge acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and five years experience in natural gas construction, damage prevention or related field experience. Requires an in-depth knowledge of Company operations.

Certificates, Licenses, etc.

Must obtain and maintain minimum Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training for position and any other required OQs and classroom training or certifications within six months. Requires valid driver's license in accordance with Company standards.

Communication Skills

Requires the ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence internal and/or external customers at a management level on matters of a technical and/or complex nature. Must have strong interpersonal skills.

Computer Skills

Requires ability to utilize the Company's internet/intranet web site and available resources for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks.

Work Conditions

Works outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain, and occasional work on ladders, roofs, attics, and under houses as well as confined spaces. May require overnight travel. May have residence requirement due to call-out response time. Works as an individual contributor and/or as member of a team.

Physical Demands

Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting. Requires an acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell. Must be able to lift tools, equipment and materials up to and including 45 pounds.

As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
