Job summary

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas seeks a Managing Attorney to lead its Dallas office, directing a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality civil legal services to low-income clients. The role emphasizes strategic advocacy, community outreach, and staff development in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Texas license, 5+ years in leadership, and a proven commitment to public interest law, with strong legal research and writing skills and fluency in Spanish

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas; minimum 5 years required.
• Prior management or leadership experience.
• Commitment to public interest law serving the indigent.
• Strong understanding of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Texas Rules of Evidence.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Interpersonal and relational leadership abilities.
• Experience coordinating community services and partners.
• Flexibility for evening hours and occasional travel.
• Fluent in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Dallas office across a multidisciplinary team.
• Direct the office's litigation strategy and centralized intake systems.
• Manage case staffing across units and ensure balanced workload.
• Provide case consultation and strategic advice on complex matters.
• Ensure compliance with LANWT policies and professional standards.
• Oversee audits of active and closed files for quality and grant compliance.
• Foster a collaborative, mission-driven office culture and staff development.
• Recruit, mentor, and supervise attorneys and staff; oversee HR processes.
• Develop community outreach and partnerships to serve low-income clients.
