Job summary

Hastings Public Schools is seeking a Dakota Culture and Language Teacher to educate students at Hastings Middle School and Hastings High School. This 1.0 FTE position focuses on delivering instruction centered on Dakota language and culture, promoting cultural pride, and contributing to language revitalization.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in the Dakota language, hold a valid MN teaching license, and possess knowledge of Dakota culture. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a Master's preferred. Benefits are included per the Teacher Master Agreement.

Qualifications

• Fluency in the Dakota language (reading/writing preferred or willingness to develop).
• Valid MN teaching license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Knowledge of Dakota culture, history, and community practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality instruction in the Dakota language.
• Integrate Dakota cultural teachings into instruction.
• Monitor and assess student progress in language proficiency.
