Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Store Leader to plan, direct and supervise team members across store operations. You will mentor staff, drive sales while controlling shrink, and maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance.

The role involves staffing, training, and promoting from within, with focus on safety, program adherence, and delivering Meijer’s service standards across all departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear directions.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across the organization including SDITs and hourly staff.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development for team members; involved in promotion decisions.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes discharge recommendations.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Mentors and coaches the team to exceed sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensures team is thoroughly trained in all job aspects and completed all required training.
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is delivered.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Promotes a safe work environment and maintains reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Plans, directs and supervises team members in the day to day operations within various departments of the store. Serves as the mentor and coach for all team members. Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales while ensuring customer needs are met and service is quick and efficient. Maintains store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
