Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce, deli) are helpful.
• Strong communication to provide clear direction.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyze financial information.
• Experience in teaching suggestive selling.
• Leadership in a safety-conscious team environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development needs for team members, and involvement in promotion decisions.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentors and coaches the team to exceed customer service and sales goals and uphold Meijer standards.
• Ensures teams are trained in all job aspects and have completed required training.
• Spends time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promotes a safe work environment and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
