Job summary

Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, invites applicants for the Dairy Environmental Systems Technician with PRO-DAIRY in the Department of Animal Science. You will support applied research and extension projects advancing dairy environmental management, conducting field and laboratory work.

Position is full-time onsite, with travel to farms across New York and occasional evenings/weekends to meet project needs. One-year term, with start date based on funding and performance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license and be cleared to drive for university business.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data entry.
• Ability to keep comprehensive, up-to-date field notes and project records.
• Ability to efficiently manage laboratory procedures and facilitate research protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and field research to evaluate manure management and treatment systems, monitor emissions, and assess dairy environments.
• Develop and maintain detailed research records and follow SOPs.
• Clean and maintain field and laboratory equipment and spaces.
• Summarize and report research data, contribute to reports, and support outreach materials.
• Conduct extensive fieldwork on dairy farms and communicate with farmers and advisors.
