Job summary

Orono Public Schools is seeking a Daily Substitute Paraeducator for Special Education. This role provides supervision to students in special education and supports a well-organized classroom under the supervision of a special education teacher.

You will work with students individually or in small groups, assist in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals, and collaborate with other staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 60 college credits, an associate degree, or a passing score on a Paraeducator assessment.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (lifting, bending, twisting).
• Motivated, self-starter with calm demeanor and cooperative attitude.
• Compassion for students with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

• Provide supervision to students in special education.
• Efficiently and effectively assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning program in a special education setting while working under the supervision of a special education teacher.
• Perform support work assisting students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals of special needs students and support with student personal care needs.
• Work individually or in small groups.
• Collaborate with other teaching staff and paraprofessionals for the benefit of all students.

Qualifications:

• This is a 7 hour(6.5hours paid) per day position.
• Paraprofessionals must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which entails lifting, bending, and twisting in various settings.
• Be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to handle situations with a calm demeanor.
• Must possess high level of compassion for students with developmental disabilities.
• Flexibility and a cooperative nature are required.
• Highly qualified (A High School diploma plus 60 college credits, an associate degree, or a passing score on a Paraeducator assessment).

COMPENSATION
Hourly Wage: $18.94-$22.23
