Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Cytotechnologist for a Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM schedule. You will microscopically examine gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides, document interpretations, ensure specimen integrity, and report results while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in clinical lab, compliance with CLIA and state licensure, and ASCP cytotechnologist certification or registry within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical lab, physical, or biological science.
• Meet CLIA requirements (CFR. 493.1483).
• Meet ASCP requirements for Cytotechnologist (if not certified, registry within 1 year).
• Meet state licensure requirements, if applicable.
• Liquid-based cytology training/certification (ThinPrep and/or SurePath) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Microscopically examine and diagnose gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides for infectious, pre-malignant, and malignant disease processes.
• Perform all duties as required by CLIA, including daily documenting of interpretations (slides screened, hours spent).
• Maintain specimen integrity and patient identification of all samples examined.
• Enter and report results into the laboratory information system.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient test results per HIPAA regulations.
• Comply with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
• Participate in CMS approved proficiency-testing program annually, as applicable.
