Job summary

City of Hope in Irvine, CA is seeking a Cytotechnologist I or II to perform cytopathologic diagnosis and participate in cytology procedures under our cytopathologists.

Responsibilities include staining and mounting slides, preparing written cytopathologic reports, and presenting abnormal findings for review, while maintaining workload statistics and regulatory data. Experience with thyroid FNA, EUS, and EBUS is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • California Cytotechnologist license required.

  • Maintain cytotechnologist's screening workload statistics and other related data as required by regulatory agencies and laboratory manager.

A Cytotechnologist performs cytopathologic diagnosis to identify benign and malignant conditions. The role involves conducting a full range of quantitative and qualitative cytologic tests on various cell samples to detect cancer, infectious processes, and other cellular abnormalities. The main responsibility will include participation in cytology procedures and diagnosis of benign and malignant conditions with our cytopathologists. Experience with cytology procedures (Thyroid FNA, EUS, EBUS with rapid on site adequacy assessment by cytotechnologist) is highly preferred; Telecytology experience and Epic Beaker LIS experience would be an added bonus.

This is a day shift position; 09:00am – 5:30pm (hours may vary); initial training hours may be conducted during day shift hours.

Additional Note: This position requires flexibility to accommodate varying patient needs. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call responsibilities and mandatory overtime may also be necessary.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Your qualifications should include:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • California Cytotechnologist license
  • For Cytotechnologist I (<3 years of experiences), the pay range is: $44.93/hr - $57.25/hr - $69.59/hr
  • For Cytotechnologist II (>3 years of experiences, the pay range is: $48.44/hr - $62.97/hr - $77.50/hr
