St. Elizabeth is seeking a full-time Cytotechnologist to support on-site cytology needs in Edgewood, KY. The role involves rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) during procedures, handling cytology slides, and ensuring timely, accurate results in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.**Job Description:*** Attends scheduled procedures to provide rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) of cytology specimens, when applicable, to assess specimen adequacy and assist with appropriate specimen collection.* Uses HIS & LIS computer systems to result tests and charge tests to ensure appropriate turn-around-time for patient diagnosis.* Screens GYN & Non GYN microscope slides quickly and efficiently within prescribed departmental guidelines for quantity and accuracy, which is determined by individual discrepancy rates compared to departmental discrepancy rates, applying diagnostic criteria and clinical history to arrive at an appropriate diagnosis to present to the pathologist or clinician.* Operates, troubleshoots and maintains laboratory equipment and performs procedures to ensure high quality, accurate and cost-effective results.* Performs and documents quality control as specified for each procedure meeting established internal and regulatory guidelines.
