Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a dedicated Cytology Lab professional in Birmingham to support specimen preparation, screening workflows, quality assurance, and reporting across varied specimen types. This role provides hands-on experience with fine needle aspiration (FNA) and ROSE, contributing to accurate diagnostics within an academic medical setting.

You will perform duties related to lab specimen handling, utilize hospital information systems, and assist the lab staff with administrative tasks,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS from the American Heart Association may be required or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, distribute, catalog, and store lab specimens for testing.
• Adhere to specimen identification policies and quality controls.
• Utilize lab and hospital information systems; provide general administrative support (filing, records, client calls, mail).
