Job summary

Qualifications

• BS with ASCP registry and/or certified cytology school degree required.
• 1-3 years experience in cytology screening.
• 3 years minimum experience screening gynecological, non-gynecological specimens and fine needle aspirations.
• Familiar with Bethesda system for Cytology reporting.
• Attention to detail; adaptable and organized.
• Requires frequent use of computers and lab equipment.; rapid assessment of department needs.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to CAP and NYSDOH standards; maintain required records.
• Write, revise and maintain SOPs for policy and procedures.
• Screen cytology cases daily and sign out with pathologist.
• Assist with cytology preparation, staining and coverslipping.
• Schedule per diem coverage and supervise.
• Submit quality control/quality assurance reports.
