Qualifications

• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation; ensure accuracy of test results.
• Report timely and accurate results to support patient care; maintain quality control and preventive maintenance.

Labcorp is seeking a Cytogenetic Technologist Trainee to join our team in Santa Fe, NM. Work Schedules: Sunday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Training Schedule: 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This role comes with a $1,000 sign-on bonus New Grads Welcome – Full Training Provided.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

Preferred Qualification:

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards:

• Previous clinical laboratory testing experience
• Proficient with computers;
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
