Torch Technologies is seeking a Cybersecurity/Systems Administrator to support the administration, security, and reliability of enterprise IT systems and network infrastructure from a customer-site in Huntsville, AL. The role emphasizes Windows and Linux administration, patch management, STIG implementation, and secure system provisioning.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of related experience, US citizenship, and the ability to operate in a regulated defense environment.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years related systems administration experience.
• Experience in Windows and/or Linux system administration.
• Familiarity with STIGs, security baselines, system hardening, and security compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux operating systems, servers, workstations, and supporting infrastructure.
• Apply operating system, application, firmware, and security patches per maintenance schedules and security requirements.
• Test, deploy, and validate patches and software updates with minimal disruption to operations.
• Implement and maintain DISA STIGs, baselines, and system hardening across OS, apps, and infrastructure.
• Conduct STIG assessments, review compliance scan results, identify deficiencies, and remediate.
• Perform vulnerability scanning, analyze findings, prioritize remediation, and track to resolution.
• Maintain and update system images as software versions and patches change; validate images before deployment.
• Support automated system configuration, image deployment, patch management, and compliance validation.
• Implement and maintain access controls, authentication mechanisms, privileged access management, and other cybersecurity controls.
• Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, engineering, and operations to resolve issues and maintain secure systems.

Cybersecurity/Systems Administrator

Torch Technologies Inc., is seeking a Cybersecurity/Systems Administrator to support the administration, maintenance, security, and reliability of enterprise IT systems and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with Windows and Linux system administration, security patch management, STIG implementation, vulnerability remediation, system imaging, and configuration management. The position will support day-to-day IT operations while ensuring systems are properly configured, patched, hardened, documented, and maintained in accordance with established security requirements and configuration standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux operating systems, servers, workstations, and supporting infrastructure.
• Apply operating system, application, firmware, and security patches in accordance with established maintenance schedules and security requirements.
• Test, deploy, and validate patches and software updates while minimizing operational disruptions and maintaining system availability.
• Implement and maintain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), security baselines, and system hardening requirements across applicable operating systems, applications, and infrastructure.
• Conduct STIG assessments, review compliance scan results, identify configuration deficiencies, and implement corrective actions to achieve and maintain compliance.
• Perform vulnerability scanning, analyze findings, prioritize remediation activities, and track vulnerabilities through resolution and verification.
• Maintain and update system images as software versions, security patches, configuration baselines, and operational requirements change.
• Validate system images before deployment to ensure functionality, security compliance, and consistency with approved configurations.
• Support automated system configuration, image deployment, patch management, and compliance validation where applicable.
• Implement and maintain access controls, authentication mechanisms, privileged access management, and other cybersecurity controls.
• Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, engineering, and operations personnel to resolve technical issues and maintain secure, reliable, and compliant systems.

Required Qualifications

• US Citizenship.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or an Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Over 10 years related systems administration experience.
• Experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux system administration.
• Familiarity with STIGs, security baselines, system hardening, and technical security compliance requirements.
• Experience with system imaging, operating system deployment, standardized builds, or system provisioning.
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning, remediation workflows, and security configuration validation.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing and validating DISA STIG requirements for Windows, Linux, network devices, or enterprise applications.
• Experience developing and maintaining standardized system images and automated deployment processes.
• Experience identifying configuration drift and maintaining compliance with approved system baselines.
• Experience working in government, defense, or other regulated environments.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to support scheduled maintenance windows and operational requirements as needed.
• Ability to follow established change management and configuration control processes.
• Ability to document system changes, image revisions, patch deployments, and security remediation activities accurately.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance.
