Job summary

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of relevant experience in cybersecurity.
• Two (2) years of experience with Splunk logging tool.
• Familiarity with the Navy RMF process and procedures.
• Final DoD-granted Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information.
• Define system security requirements, design computer security architecture, and develop detailed cybersecurity designs.
• Execute cybersecurity activities, including the implementation and sustainment of HBSS, ACAS, MDE, and MDI.
• Apply and implement STIG checklists to ensure compliance and support Navy RMF accreditations.
• Ensure compliance with the latest Force Health Protection Guidance, vaccination certification and testing/safety protocols.
• Provide support to NRL field sites within the Washington DC metropolitan area and occasionally travel to Monterey, CA, and Bay St. Louis, MS; travel in DC area not reimbursable.
• Complete yearly EPA-sponsored environmental training and favor energy-efficient materials.

About the Role

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist II to join our Information Assurance (IA) team at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington D.C. This position will require the specialist to ensure the security of our computer systems, networks, and data, and to comply with the Navy Risk Management Framework (RMF) and other compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information.
• Define system security requirements, design computer security architecture, and develop detailed cybersecurity designs.
• Execute cybersecurity activities, including the implementation and sustainment of Host Based Security System (HBSS), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), and Microsoft Defender for Identity (MDI).
• Apply and implement Standard Implementation Guide (STIG) checklists to ensure compliance and support Navy RMF accreditations.
• Ensure compliance with the latest Force Health Protection Guidance, maintaining vaccination certification and adhering to testing and safety protocols as required.
• Provide support to NRL field sites within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and occasionally travel to Monterey, CA, and Bay St. Louis, MS. Travel within the DC metropolitan area will not be reimbursable, while more extensive travel will be billed against the contract.
• Complete yearly EPA-sponsored environmental training and favor the use of energy-efficient, recycled, or reclaimed materials whenever possible.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required Certifications: CSSP or CASP, HBSS, ACAS.

Working Conditions
