Job summary

Torch Technologies in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Cybersecurity Senior (ISSM) to oversee cybersecurity activities across day-to-day security operations and software development lifecycles. This role supports FMxC2 data and DoW programs and reports to AO/PM/ISO as the primary cybersecurity technical advisor.

The ISSM must hold DoW-certified qualifications, US citizenship, and an advanced degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ in DoW.

Responsibilities

  • Completes and maintains required cybersecurity certifications IAW AFMAN 17-1305.
  • Keeps all AF IT cybersecurity documentation current and accessible to authorized individuals.
  • Supports PM or ISO in maintaining authorization to operate and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develops ISCM strategy with PM/AO and monitors system changes.
  • Monitors IT environment for security-relevant events.
  • Assesses configuration changes for cybersecurity impact and controls performance.
  • Reports cybersecurity events affecting IT authorization to AO and stakeholders.
  • Ensures training and certification for ISSOs and privileged users per DoWI standards.
  • Ensures proper DoW acquisition, operation, and disposal of AF IT.

Torch Technologies is seeking a Cybersecurity Senior (ISSM) to maintain responsibility for cybersecurity activities associated with day-to-day security operations and software development lifecycles.

Field Maintenance Command Control (FMxC2) provides management support and serves as a data repository for U.S. Air Force aircraft maintenance functions, engine health and performance, and aircraft flight analysis capabilities worldwide. It also allows for the exchange of information with Air Force Standard Systems for legacy transactional systems. LogC2 data is sent to the Global Decision Support System (GDSS), which will in turn, provide C2 logistics data to the Integrated Data Environment/Global Transportation Network Convergence (IGC). FMxC2 is the maintenance information system of record for 1,170 aircraft, supporting 27,000+ users. The global nature of FMxC2 provides aircraft information from main operating bases, to enroute, to deployed locations to provide field level and Major Command (MAJCOM) aircraft managers an enterprise view in the decision-making process. This position supports GBM.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with experience in cybersecurity. The ISSM is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for the assigned IT. This includes the following related to maintaining situational awareness and initiating actions to improve or restore cybersecurity posture. The ISSM is the primary cybersecurity technical advisor to the AO, PM, and ISO. The ISSM ensures the integration of cybersecurity into, and throughout, the lifecycle of the IT, on behalf of the AO and in accordance with DoWI 8510.01.

As a Cybersecurity Senior (ISSM) your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
  • Completes and maintains required cybersecurity certification IAW AFMAN 17-1305.
  • Ensures all AF IT cybersecurity-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals.
  • Supports the PM or ISO in maintaining current authorization to operate, approval to connect (if required), and implementing corrective actions identified in the plan of actions and milestones.
  • Coordinates, with the PM and AO staffs, development of an ISCM strategy and monitors any proposed or actual changes to the system and its environment.
  • Continuously monitors the IT and environment for security-relevant events.
  • Assesses proposed configuration changes for potential impact to the cybersecurity posture.
  • Assesses the quality of security controls implementation against performance indicators.
  • Ensures cybersecurity-related events or configuration changes that impact AF IT authorization or adversely impact the security posture are formally reported to the AO and other affected parties, such as IOs, stewards, and AOs of interconnected IT.
  • Ensures all ISSOs and privileged users receive necessary technical training and obtain cybersecurity certification IAW AFMAN 17-1301, Computer Security (COMPUSEC), AFMAN 17-1305, and maintain proper clearances IAW DoWI 8500.01.
  • Ensures the AF IT is acquired, documented, operated, used, maintained, and disposed of properly IAW DoWI 5000.02 and DoWI 8510.01.
Required Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship.
  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 years of which must be in the DoW.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoW.
  • OR 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, 8 of which must be in the DoW.
  • The ISSM is required to hold and maintain a personnel certification associated with the DCWF ISSM work role (722) at an advanced (senior) proficiency level as outlined in DoWI 8510.01, AFMAN 17-1305 and AFI 17-101 for assigned systems/applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoW Clearance (required to start).
