Job summary

LHH in Illinois is seeking a Cybersecurity & Network Engineer to own security across networks, servers, cloud platforms, and OT environments in a hands-on role.

You will secure and optimize firewalls, VPNs, and Microsoft 365/Azure security, contribute to vulnerability management and compliance, and help drive security initiatives. Base salary ranges from $120,000 to $145,000 with a 10% annual bonus.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of cybersecurity, network engineering, or IT infrastructure experience.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Hands-on enterprise networking and network-security troubleshooting.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, and/or SharePoint.
• Understanding of vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and incident response.
• Familiarity with NIST, CMMC 2.0, and CIS Controls.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with IT and software teams.
• Cisco, Meraki, SonicWall or similar networking/firewall experience.
• PowerShell, Python, or security automation skills.
• Certifications: Security+, CCNA/CCNP, CISA, Microsoft Azure/Security, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Secure and improve networks, servers, endpoints, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications
• Manage and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, routers, VLANs, VPNs, LAN/WAN, and wireless networks
• Monitor security alerts, vulnerabilities, suspicious activity, and potential incidents
• Support EDR, SIEM, identity security, vulnerability management, Zero Trust, and network segmentation
• Strengthen security across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, SharePoint, MFA, and Conditional Access
• Drive vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts
• Support cybersecurity compliance initiatives involving NIST, CMMC 2.0, and CIS Controls
• Assist with security audits, vendor risk assessments, and customer security requirements
• Partner with IT and Software Development teams to improve application and infrastructure security
• Help protect both traditional IT and OT environments
• 3-5+ years of cybersecurity, network engineering, or IT infrastructure experience
• Familiarity with Cisco, Meraki, SonicWall or similar networking/firewall experience
• PowerShell, Python, or security automation skills

We’re partnering with a well-established, privately held manufacturing company in the western suburbs of Chicago looking for a Cybersecurity & Network Engineer who wants to make a real impact.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role where you’ll work across cybersecurity, network infrastructure, Microsoft cloud security, vulnerability management, compliance, and OT/manufacturing environments. What You’ll Own

Bonus:
