Job summary

Society Insurance in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, offers a cybersecurity internship for the 2027 summer. This paid internship supports the cybersecurity team with hands-on work in security operations, risk management, and awareness under experienced IT staff guidance.

You will review security alerts, assist with vulnerability tracking, user access reviews, and help with audits, reporting, and CIS Controls activities while learning current security practices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems, networking, and cybersecurity concepts.
• Willingness to learn new tools and complete work accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Review security alerts, logs, and phishing emails; document findings and escalate.
• Review vulnerability reports and track remediation with IT staff.
• Assist with security controls reviews, access reviews, and asset inventories.
• Support security awareness communications, training, and phishing simulations.

Society Insurance is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern for the 2027 Summer to support the cybersecurity team. The intern will gain practical experience in security operations, risk management, and security awareness while completing assigned work under the guidance of experienced IT staff.

About the Role

• Assists with reviewing security alerts, logs, and reported phishing emails; documents findings and escalates concerns to the cyber security team.
• Helps review vulnerability reports and track remediation activities with IT staff.
• Assists with user access reviews, asset inventories, and verification of security controls.
• Updates security procedures, knowledge articles, and incident documentation.
• Supports security awareness communications, training, and phishing simulations.
• Collects and organizes evidence for audits, risk assessments, and CIS Controls activities.
• Assists with cybersecurity projects, basic reporting, and research as assigned.
• Follows company security policies, protects confidential information, and performs technical work within assigned access and approved procedures.

What it Will Take

• Currently pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems, networking, and cybersecurity concepts through coursework or hands-on learning.
• Willingness to learn new tools and complete assigned work accurately land on time.
• Coursework projects, or lab experience involving security monitoring, vulnerability assessment, or Windows administration highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Excel, or basic scription highly desirable.
