The City of New York’s Cyber Command is seeking a skilled security architect to protect city systems, detect threats, and guide risk management across agencies. You will design and implement defenses, assess risks, and collaborate with IT teams to embed security into daily operations.

Ideal candidates will have strong cloud security expertise, experience with cyber defense tooling, and the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualificações

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

• Automate controls and redundant processes whenever possible.
• Liaise with cybersecurity vendors to support procurement of cybersecurity solutions.

About Cyber Command

Cyber Command is charged with protecting all City systems against cyber threats, including systems that deliver vital services to New Yorkers. Headed by the Chief Information Security Officer of the City of New York, we provide in-depth support to over 100 agencies and offices to protect, detect, identify, respond to, and recover from cyber threats.

Job Description

The Security Sciences teams provide highly functional, available, trusted solutions that enable the City government to prevent, detect, respond, and recover from cyber threats. Security Sciences is responsible for security architecture and engineering, with an emphasis on big data and emerging technology. This includes evaluating security tools, building a highly resilient and defensible security architecture, and supporting Cyber Command's software engineering and development lifecycle in order to rapidly meet the mission needs.

Responsibilities will include:

HOURS/SHIFT

Day - Due to the necessary technical duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or,

Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Preferred Skills

• Professional experience architecting/operating solutions and security frameworks built on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations, for complex mission-critical solutions
• Security and cloud certifications (CySA+, GCIA, CCSP, Google Compute Platform, AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Experience using programming/scripting languages (C++, Python, Java, C#, Perl, etc)
• At least 3 years of experience in information security in a large enterprise environment
• Skill in configuring and utilizing software-based cybersecurity tools
• Skill in configuring and utilizing cybersecurity hardware components
• Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services
• Hands on experience in at least two of the following areas: network security engineering, email security, or cloud security
• Experience with Windows and Linux
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated with a commitment to learning and continuous improvement
