By Light Professional IT Services is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to support DoD software development through security requirements and lifecycle enhancements. You will analyze and apply cybersecurity practices, perform adversarial testing, and mentor junior engineers in the DoD security domain.

The role emphasizes implementing security controls, risk assessment, and collaboration with development teams to secure applications and systems across lifecycle stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, IT or related field required.
• Experience with software development lifecycle and security controls.
• Experience implementing software solutions to comply with security controls (e.g., NIST SP 800-53).
• Experience with threat assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Experience with offensive security tools and adversarial techniques.

Responsibilities

• Define cybersecurity requirements for software applications to meet program objectives.
• Provide security engineering guidance across the system development lifecycle.
• Perform assessments of cybersecurity requirement compliance using manual and automated tools.
• Conduct adversarial testing against networked and web applications to identify weaknesses.
• Propose mitigations to reduce software threats and vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with software teams to ensure security practices are integrated.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior cybersecurity engineers.
