Job summary

The Civilization Research Institute in Asheville, NC is hiring a Cybersecurity Engineer for a full-time on-site role, with option for remote work travel as needed. You will design, implement, and maintain security controls, monitor threats, and lead incident response using advanced tooling and LLM-enabled defense strategies.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will coordinate with cybersecurity leadership to safeguard networks, endpoints, data, and AI services, while building

Qualifications

• A degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related qualification.
• 4 years of work experience with incident detection, incident response, and forensics.
• Experience with Firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Office 365 Security, VSX, and Endpoint Security.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, Ruby, Node, Go, and/or PowerShell.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and continuously improve technical controls protecting networks, systems, endpoints, communications, LLM/AI services, and data from cyber threats.
• Monitor network traffic, system logs, security alerts, and threat intelligence for signs of threats.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, coordinate or perform penetration testing, and carry out incident response activities.
• Implement, maintain, and test recovery controls in accordance with disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Translate security policies into practical configurations and maintain documentation for compliance.
